South Yorkshire is a metropolitan county in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. Lying on the east side of the Pennines, South Yorkshire is landlocked, and borders Derbyshire (to the south-west), West Yorkshire (to the northwest), North Yorkshire (to the north), the East Riding of Yorkshire (to the northeast), Lincolnshire (to the east) and Nottinghamshire (to the southeast).
In 1851, South Yorkshire was home to Aleister and Alicia Huston. They lived in an expansive home, but were forced to sell it when Aleister lost his fortune after a string of poor investments. The Hustons were forced to relocate to Sheffield, an impoverished borough of South Yorkshire. Less than a year later, Aleister Huston was killed in an accident at a steel factory, and Alicia was forced to find employment at a textile mill. While returning home one evening, Alicia found the row home she had been living in engulfed in flames, and rushed inside in the hopes of saving her two children. She fell into the River Don, but when she emerged, she was transformed into the plant elemental known as Lady Jane. Alicia accepted her new role as an elemental as well as that of a nurturer to all children. [1]
