"Alright, I have some reports for you already."

Xu (シュウ, Shuu, or Shou in the German version) is a nonplayer character from Final Fantasy VIII. She is a SeeD operative who works in Balamb Garden and supports the Garden through overseeing field exams. She is friends with Quistis Trepe.

At the SeeD examination, Xu was called forth to explain the scenario occuring in Dollet to Seifer, Zell, and Squall; all members of Squad B. Quistis was also present. Although she did not take part in the mission, she was vital in the plan. Further on in the game, when NORG tries to take over the Garden, Xu is seen aligning and supporting Headmaster Cid, even threatening the main characters when they, unaware of what's going on, run into her and do not identify themselves as aligned with Cid.
Afterward, when the Balamb Garden becomes mobile and Squall is given the rank of Commander, Xu, along with Quistis and Nida, can be found at the Command Bridge, helping Squall by keeping things in order.
Later, during the Battle of the Gardens, Xu takes part in coordinating Balamb Garden's defense and offense during the Battle of the Gardens. During the ending cinema of the game, Xu is seen when Irvine is in control of the camera and waves to him.

Card Club

As a secret hobby, Xu was a fanatic of the card game, Triple Triad, and even reached the rank of "Heart", which is second only to the "King". She carries the rare level nine card, Carbuncle.

She unwittingly survives the Time Compression along with the CC group members when the Time Compression took place. Wanting Squall to play the card game against the CC group members, they boarded the Ragnarok airship and somehow survived, perhaps because of their passion to challenge Squall.
