The special winterized version of T-51b Power Armor appears in the Operation: Anchorage add-on for Fallout 3.

Characteristics

It is one of two armors used by U.S. Soldiers (the other armor of choice being Winterized Combat Armor) in the Anchorage Reclamation simulation and can be obtained from the VSS weapon cache in the Outcast Outpost after completing the sim.

It is identical to the T-51b in Fort Constantine, other than having a lack of rust, having snow-camouflaged paint, and the main body of the suit has only 45 damage resistance compared to the rusted version's 50.

Notes

  • This armor has an item health of nearly 10 million HP while the helmet has nearly 1 million HP. This makes it virtually impossible to damage either the armor or the helmet. It is possible that the developers accidentally placed the wrong version inside the cache. See "bugs" for more information.
  • It can be hard to see, but the armor has a US Army logo and flag decal below the valve on the back. It also has 2 stars on the front of the shoulder plates, and it has a serial code on the left breast plate.
  • The T-51b power armor appears to have a light on the helmet (as does the Power Armor), but this light cannot be used.
  • The Winterized T-51b is not available to the player during the simulation.
  • There is no need to receive Power Armor Training before you obtain the suit as once you retrieve it, you gain the perk.
  • The left breast plate says DiV:5128477 USA Army
  • While in the simulation, the flag on the armor appears to be America's current 50 star flag, but the suit you get upon completion of the simulation has the same flag that shows up in each game (with the 13 stars in a circle surrounding a big star in the center).

Bugs

  • If you pick this armor up while doing the quest You Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head (the helmet excluded) the game confuses this for the T-51b Power Armor from Fort Constantine and completes the mission. This also rewards the player with the Achievement or Trophy respectively. Mr. Crowley will no longer speak to you after getting the armor, other than saying, "You stole what is rightfully mine, get lost." One way to avoid this is to keep the winterized version in storage (eg: in the locker in your megaton house) while you complete the quest. (Confirmed on all platforms.)
  • You can sometimes wear the Ghoul Mask, Shady Hat and various other head gear while wearing the Winterized T-51b helmet. When viewing your character externally, they only seem to be wearing the helmet, even though your inventory will show that you are wearing all of them. Two exceptions are Poplar's Hood and Pint-Sized Slasher Mask; these head pieces will stick out of the helmet in some parts. (Confirmed on all platforms.)
  • The Winterized T-51b helmet in the Pipboy appears as Power Armor instead of a Power Armor helmet.
