Wikipedia.org is an immensely large online encyclopedia that contains information on an increasingly large number of topics. It has an immense wealth of comics content, some of which has been used on the DC Database, some of which is taken from the DC Database. It is a useful tool for external research when general information cannot be found on the DCDP, although the DCDP's format allows for much more specific information when called for. Relevant articles to the DC Universe can be found in these places:

Wikipedia is a collaboratively developed, free content encyclopedia. It is very similar to Wookieepedia, although it is a general knowledge encyclopedia, rather than being specific to one topic (as this wiki is Star Wars specific). Because of this, it is not always particularly friendly to in-depth knowledge specific to a given fictional universe. This has resulted in events such as the Great LucasCruft Purge, where "non-notable" articles on Star Wars topics were deleted. Wikipedia still contains many articles on the Star Wars saga, however, which are collected in a dedicated Star Wars portal.
Wikipedia could be viewed as a "mother project" of sorts to Wookieepedia—while there is no official relationship, it is doubtful that this site would ever have existed without the inspiration of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a wiki that has general information on anything legitimate; in addition, there are also smaller wikis, like Wookieepedia, that are devoted to specific topics.
It should also be noted that Wookieepedia was created entirely independently of The Wikimedia Foundation and of any events occurring on Wikipedia, though many Wookieepedians are also Wikipedians, and much information is shared between the two projects. Some Wookieepedians have even started phasing out of Star Wars-related activities on Wikipedia to concentrate fully, or at least more, on Wookieepedia.
The Great LucasCruft Purge is the informal name given to a series of AfDs (then called VfDs) targeting Star Wars-related articles with little importance on Wikipedia. The purge was initiated in March 2005 by a Wikipedian by the name of GRider (considered by some a deletionist who wished to prove a point). The purge garnered the Star Wars Wiki a great deal of public attention, which gave many the erroneous impression that Wookieepedia was created because of the purge.
The term "Great LucasCruft Purge" stemmed from the VfD for Great Jedi Purge and was co-coined by Riffsyphon1024 and Kappa.
