Weird Worlds was a science fiction anthology comic book published from September of 1972 until November of 1974. The series went on hiatus in February of 1974 with issue #9 and did not resume until November with its final issue being #10. The title began as a split-book featuring the characters of Tarzan and John Carter, Warlord of Mars. With issue #8, the series shifted its focus to Iron Wolf. Tarzan, John Carter and the Pellucidar stories were the intellectual properties of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and were previously featured in the defunct titles, Tarzan of the Apes and Korak, Son of Tarzan. Several of the characters and plot devices borrowed from Burroughs' work were re-imagined in Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (volumes 1 and 2) published by America's Best Comics, an imprint of DC's WildStorm Productions. John Carter appeared in a text story in volume 1 titled "Allan and the Sundered Veil". In volume 2, Moore mixed elements of Burroughs' Mars (Barsoom) with that of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds.
