Performer:

Wally was the host of The Muppets Valentine Show. A hip fellow in shades and "groovy" threads, Wally pondered the meaning of love. Seated at a typewriter, he typed stage directions and cues which appeared on-screen, and dictated characters' entrances and the general plot of the special. Wally's storytelling omniscience presages that of Gonzo as Charles Dickens in The Muppet Christmas Carol.

This would be Wally's first and last appearance, as the second pilot, The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence, replaced him with Nigel, and The Muppet Show itself utilized Kermit.

The puppet was first used for the elf Fred in 1970's The Great Santa Claus Switch, then as a Whatnot for The Muppet Show. The puppet was later refurbished as Leo for the Muppet Meeting Films.

Wally in the opening cutscene from Demon Slayer
Wally the Demon Slayer is one of Varrock's most famous heroes. When the powerful demon Delrith attempted to destroy the city, Wally narrowly managed to defeat him with the sword Silverlight in the 19th year of the Fifth Age, 150 years ago. He died sometime after but his greatness has never been forgotten.

Sir Prysin is his great grandson and is currently in possession of Silverlight.

Trivia

  • Wally's helmet, which he is said to have worn when he battled Delrith, is displayed at the Outpost near Ardougne after completion of the Making History quest. During Demon Slayer, when a cutscene shows Wally defeat Delrith, he is not wearing a helmet. This is most likely just an accident by Jagex, or because if he had a helmet on, the incantation he had to say wouldn't be heard clearly. It is also possible that it is a reference to how much of Runescape's history is popularly known in an incorrect form (for instance, that Saradomin created Gielinor and that gnomes and humans both descended from the same relative, but gnomes came first), and that the helmet being Wally's is only a legend that was attached, for whatever reason, to the helmet at some point in the past, whether true or not.
  • Originally, Wally did not appear in any cutscenes and was only mentioned by Gypsy Aris and Sir Prysin.
  • For some reason, Wally appears bald in the cutscene, but is shown with hair in his picture slaying Delrith in the Lores article, Eulogy for a Forgotten Hero(which was released after the cutscene update).
  • In the artwork of Wally slaying Delrith, Wally's head features look similar and may be a reference to the children's book series called Where's Waldo?, though he is lacking a hat.
  • Wally the Demon Slayer may be a pun on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". This might partially explain why Silverlight can affect vampires. Or, that vampires are technically their own class of demons.
  • Although Wally is visible in a cutscene during the Demon Slayer quest, he has no examine option.
