After Bashir activated Vic Fontaine, the hologram gave him successful advice on how to pursuade her to go out for dinner. They had it in Vic's lounge and the two began dating soon after. Private Walker is the Heavy Weapons Specialist of Corporal Harland's unit. He took part in the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV. However, after the encounter with the Hunters, which killed most of the unit including CO Second Lieutenant McCasky, and fleeing a fight with a small unit of Grunts, Walker was frozen with fear and had a mental breakdown. Walker's breakdown would have cost his squad their lives had Private Cochran not taken the initiative to shoot down a couple of pursuing Banshees.[2] Walker's breakdown slowly vanished upon returning to Alpha Headquarters, near the city Cote d'Azur, and Harland eventually regained trust of Walker and allowed him to fight again. He and his team were later evacuated when the SPARTAN-IIs destroyed all of the Covenant forces using a HAVOK Nuclear Warhead.

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

"These weapons of war would be awe-inspiring, were they not so terrifying."
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine
Every walker was only as strong as its weakest joint.

A walker was any vehicle, usually military, that used legs as its primary method of locomotion rather than the more common repulsors, wheels, or treads. This term can also refer to especially large droids with legs (again, usually combat droids), though such droids are usually referred to using more specific terminology (such as "spider droid").

Walkers in other media

Star Wars has popularized the use of various walkers and mechs in various media, from various Japanese anime to strategy games like Command and Conquer. Most of these mechs bear resemblance to the AT-ST. Also, Japanese scientists have constructed a Land Walker which might have been inspired by Star Wars walkers.

Origin

George Lucas claims he got the original idea for walkers from the cargo lifters which reside in the port of Oakland.[1][2]
