The Vorpal Bunny is a Rank III Mark from Final Fantasy XII. It can be found in the Rustling Chapel area of Golmore Jungle.

According to Nera, the petitioner, it only shows itself every seven years, and that its tail is used by Viera salve-makers to create a special substance, called "Vision Dust", as a rite of passage. She posted the bill in order for her friend, Alja, to become a full-fledged salve-maker, as Alja herself is not quick enough to catch one herself because of her lame leg from when she protected another salve-maker against a threat from the jungle.

Bestiary Entry

Genus: Rank III Mark
Classification: Dreamhare

"Being a Dreamhare possessing a distinctive dark-furred Body and feathered Ears. Its large white Tail contains a unique Oil, used by the viera for Centuries as an Ingredient in potent Unguents and Remedies. It is understandably quite wary of Man, and therefore difficult to Catch. Posted as a Mark by a kind soul hoping to help her Friend become a true Salve-Maker"

The Vorpal Bunny is a scarce creature, and will prefer to run away rather than fight. Under no circumstances may it run out of the player's sight, or it will quite literally go underground and fully recover whatever damage the player had inflicted. After clearing the the lower chapel area of all enemies, cast Protect on every party member. As soon as it appears, cast Dispel on it to remove the Faith status, and then lob as many Berserks and Bacchus's Wines at it till it goes crazy, (the only way to force it to stay in one place is to cast Berserk on it). This will make its normal, unprotected attacks do over 400 damage with good armor on, but with protect, it will be half that. The bunny attacks fast, dodges easily, and moves quick, but with these and a Gambit on your spell caster so that they use a Hi-Potion between 60 - 70% HP, it should fall easily. A recommended level is around 30, and be sure you have 15 - 20 Hi-Potions; if you are higher than 40 do not bother getting Potions. As a much easier and quicker method, depending on your level and how many Quickening Licenses you have, a long-enough Quickening Chain can kill the Bunny instantly.

Nera will be waiting at the entrance to Eruyt Village, as not to let anyone from the village know that she had gotten help from outsiders, as it is tradition for the salve-apprentice and a wood-warder to hunt the Vorpal Bunny together. She tells Vaan to follow her from a distance so that they can speak freely at a disclosed location. They are however spotted and confronted by Alja, and the two Viera will start to discuss Alja's past.

  • 2,000 gil
  • Lightning Arrows
  • Gillie Boots

The name takes the word "vorpal" from the name Vorpal Sword, a weapon described in Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky. Vorpal is presumed to mean "deadly" or "sharp".
