Vengeance is a unique and very powerful Gatling Laser in Fallout 3.

Contents

Characteristics

  • It deals massive damage and its ammo isn't that hard to find (uses EC packs). The only downside is that it is difficult to repair this item because Gatling Lasers can be very hard to find. It has 500 more HP than its normal variant.
  • This weapon is also an excellent choice for performing V.A.T.S. sneak attacks with. On Very Hard Mode with 100 in Big Guns and Better Criticals, it is possible to one-shot Deathclaws.

Location

  • Vengeance can be found in the Deathclaw Sanctuary, which is located in the northwest corner of the map. The sanctuary is filled with a large number of Deathclaws, so be prepared for a fight.
  • Vengeance itself is found in the southeast of the sanctuary, and is located next to the pool of blood, in a group of green mushrooms and mutilated human remains under a rock formation. (The opening to the rock formation is easily missed so you should put on your pip boy light)

Comparison

The following table compares the Vengeance to the other Gatling Laser variants.

Weapon DMG/Shot DPS SPRD CRIT % MULT CRIT DMG HP
Gatling Laser 8 80 0.5 x0.05 6 1500
Precision Gatling Laser 8 80 0.5 x0.2 6 1500
Vengeance 11 110 0.5 x0.05 12 2000

Appearances

Vengeance appears only in Fallout 3. It may be a reference to a gun found in Fallout 2: the Avenger Minigun.

Notes

  • Keep in mind that Vengeance is an enchantment; the resurrected character will die if Vengeance is removed by an enemy.
  • Be aware than in GW:EN if you attempt to mount a Siege Devourer it will first remove all your enchantments. The result will be dying instantly when the skill 'Mount' is completed, with the loss of the Siege Devourer.
  • In the Random/Team Arena area The Crag, Vengeance-related deaths do not score points.
  • This skill can be used in an Alliance Battle to quickly bring a downed key player back into the fight. In addition, Vengeance does not reset the respawn counter, so when its duration ends, the affected player will be respawned immediately.
  • The usual blue pillar of light when a player is resurrected is replaced with a red pillar for this skill.

A player casting the Vengeance spell.

Vengeance is a Lunar spell. After vengeance is cast, the next time damage is inflicted to the player, up to 75% of that damage is also dealt to whatever hit the player, similar to a Ring of recoil. The player will also say "Taste vengeance!" when its effect activates. Many players use the Lunar Spellbook for this particular spell so they can deal extra damage back to their opponents. Vengeance spells can only be cast once every 30 seconds by the same caster.

They are very popular when fighting in PvP especially when an opponent is using hard hitting weapons, eg. Godswords or Dharoks because you can recoil large amounts of damage back. As with all Lunar Magic spells, the quest Lunar Diplomacy must be completed to cast this spell. If vengeance is used, and the player is killed the next turn, the vengeance has no effect, most likely to prevent both players from dying at the same time.

Vengeance costs 1892 coins for each cast, or 1592 coins if an Earth staff is equipped.

Remember, you cannot use normal Magic or Ancient Magicks spells if you are using Lunar Magicks, except by use of the Spell Book Swap spell.
