The USS Potemkin (NCC-1657) was a Constitution-class Federation starship in service in the 23rd century. The Potemkin had a crew complement of over 400. (TNG novelization: Relics).

The Star Fleet Technical Manual lists the Potemkin's registry number as NCC-1711, while the FASA RPG series gives the registry as NCC-1702. However, the canon registry for the Potemkin was given in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

The USS Potemkin (NCC-1657)[1] was a Constitution-class heavy cruiser active in the second half of the 23rd century, commissioned ca. 2250 (Star Trek novel: Collision Course)[2], later converted to a training ship (2251-52, Ships of the Star Fleet, vol. 1 [revised]).[3]

In 2268, the Potemkin took part in the disastrous M-5 war games. (TOS: "The Ultimate Computer")

A Prime Team called the "Patriots" was assigned to Potemkin. (Task Force Games: UFP: The Federation Sourcebook for Prime Directive)

The Potemkin conducted a scientific survey near Klingon space in 2293, around the time of the Khitomer Accords. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

Notable personnel who served aboard Potemkin

From Starship Farragut:

  1. The Star Fleet Technical Manual had Potemkin's registry number as NCC-1711. At least one Starfleet International chapter had NCC-1771. (Starfleet International: Scott A. Akers, et al., Master Genealogy: Starfleet Region 7)
  2. This may only be in the Shatnerverse continuity.
  3. This may be incompatible with Shatnerverse continuity, as it seems unlikely that a newly commissioned ship of the line would be converted to a training vessel so soon after commissioning.
