The USS Magellan (NCC-71820) was a Federation Galaxy-class explorer starship in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. (RPG reference: Starships)

In 2374, the Magellan participated in Operation Return to retake Deep Space 9 from the Dominion. The Magellan, along with the USS Venture was assigned to protect the USS Defiant, but both took heavy damage. (DS9 episode: "Sacrifice of Angels")

In 2376, the Magellan participated in the resolution to the Iconian gateway crisis. In the effort to reach her destination in time, one of the Magellan's dilithium crystal relays blew out, and even afterwards, Chief Engineer Conklin pushed the ship's engines past the redline. Repairs were estimated to take a week at the nearest starbase. (Star Trek: Gateways - What Lay Beyond short story: "The Other Side")

Though unnamed, What Lay Beyond specified Magellan's commanding officer at the time as male.

The USS Magellan was a Galaxy-class starship in service during the late 24th century. She was a part of the Starfleet task force that fought to retake Deep Space 9 in Operation Return. (DS9: "Sacrifice of Angels")
Note that "Sacrifice of Angels" does not specify that the Magellan was Galaxy-class, but it is likely given the context and the idea is generally accepted in fanon.

During the Dominion War, the Magellan was the flagship of the Fourth Fleet, leading Task Force 41. Her commanding officer was Captain Esteban Tuero. After the war, she was assigned to rimward exploration, and her home port was Cascade Station. (Ships of the Star Fleet, Vol.4)

In 2377, she was placed under the command of Captain Elizabeth Shelby who oversaw completion of the refit. (PDN: "Restoration")
