The USS Challenger (NCC-1676) was a Constitution-class (refit) Federation starship, named after NASA's 20th century space vessel STS Challenger. She was commissioned in June, 2289.

It was rumored that the Challenger fell into a wormhole and was flung over eighty years into the future. It was later replaced by the USS Challenger (NCC-1676-D).
