Trema is a non-player character from Final Fantasy X-2, a minor antagonist who can be investigated through a sidequest.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

In the two years after Sin's defeat, Trema, a former denizen of Yevon, wished to learn more about Spira's history, hidden all over the world in the form of Spheres. Thus he created Sphere Hunting, which soon became a popular craze amongst young people, and began searching Spira for lost spheres. Trema then founded New Yevon in an attempt to bring some stability back to Bevelle and those people who had fallen out of touch, however he then decided that Spira should not be looking to the past but to the future and he stole all the spheres that had been discovered and descended into the depths of Via Infinito deep below the city where he destroyed them. However, he never resurfaced, and New Yevon elected a Chairman who continued the good work that Trema began, unaware that their founder was still in the Via Infinito, where he is now an Unsent and a very powerful foe. He can easily be noted as the most difficult boss in Final Fantasy X-2.

The Gullwings soon ventured into the Via Infinito and upon reaching the final Cloister, found Trema waiting for them. Because Trema had the ability to control Fiends, Trema may had already been dead prior to entering the Via Infinito.

"The founder of New Yevon. He is now a dark puppeteer, able to bend Spira's most powerful fiends to his will. He once operated a training academy for Spira's youth."

You start this battle in the exact same condition you ended the Paragon battle with. See that page for suggested equipment.

Begin the fight by having your Gunner use Target MP on Trema. If she is in critical health like she should be, it will completely drain all of Trema's MP. Now you do not need to worry about Ultima, making this fight much easier. Still be ready for when he casts Meteor, for that does more damage than Ultima, and can be cast with 0 MP. For some reason, he can also cast Flare with no MP, but he cannot cast Ultima. Now, have your Dark Knights move all the way around the edge of the Valiant Lustre Garment Grid while your Gunner heals them with Potions. When finished, your Dark Knights should have full HP (which should be 9,999) and maxed out Defense and Magic Defense. With one or both having Defense Bracers, you are set to actually start fighting. You could also use a Chocobo Wing for Haste status.

Trema's physical attacks can deal around 1,200 damage to your characters, well over the amount needed to kill your Gunner. Use Phoenix Downs to revive her. Trigger Happy should do around 150,000 damage to Trema. After one or two of those, Trema should cast Meteor. Use your Dark Knights to revive the Gunner and heal each other, and keep using Trigger Happy. Keep your Dark Knights at full health for Meteor while your Gunner continues to use Trigger Happy, and Trema should go down soon.

  • Although it is never heard during the game, Trema recites lyrics from the Hymn of the Fayth before casting Meteor.
