Broken pipe
location: Megaton
given by: Walter
reward: 200 caps
Unlock Walter's Scrap Metal

Treatment is an unmarked Fallout 3 quest.

When you ask "What needs to be done around here?", Walter asks you to fix broken pipes around Megaton. When asked why he can't fix them, he says he hasn't got the time.

The pipes require a repair skill of 30 or better to fix.

Location of pipes

The pipes that have to be fixed are leaking water from them. The locations are as follows:

  1. On top of the Children of Atom. Reached easily by jumping down from the right corner of the fence by Craterside Supply.
  2. On the hill where you enter. Right by the staircase to get to your Megaton house.
  3. On the hill opposite of where you enter Megaton that leads to the Common House.

  • If your starting intelligence is at least 5, a simple way of completing this is to take Mentats, then equip the Vault 101 Utility Jumpsuit. Doing this will give you the 30 repair skill required to fix the leaking pipes.
  • If you have tagged Repair in the G.O.A.T, this can easily be done, unless your intelligence is low. But then again, you can take mentats if you have a problem when you have tagged repair.
  • Walter's explanation for being unable to fix the repairs is that he can only get away from the plant during the night, when the water isn't running, and the leaks arent visible. However, not only does Walter walk around Megaton during the day sometimes, but all leaks are still shown during the night.

  • A glitch has been encountered that when you finish fixing the pipes and have chosen to not sell Scrap Metal for caps if you leave and come back it will give you the option to fix them again but since you already fixed them you can chose the option again to get 400 caps instead of 200. (confirmed all platforms)
  • Once you get all the pipes repaired and to speak to Walter, he wants you to bring him some scrap metal. If you bring him some Scrap Metal (tested with more than five scrap metals) there is among the possible statement: "Eden wanted me to contaminate the water with a virus", which is one of the statements you can tell to the Elder Owyn Lyons when coming back from Raven Rock. (confirmed)
  • A glitch in which after the quests completion, Walter vanishes and doesn't return after he rewards you and you leave the water treatment plant. (360 Confirmed, PC Confirmed, PS3 Confirmed)
  • Walter may eventually disappear when not given any scrap metal, but this has yet to be confirmed. (PS3)
  • In some rare cases, Walter will get into a fight with another resident of Megaton some time after assigning the quest to the player character and be killed. In this case, the quest will be left incomplete. (360 Unconfirmed)

Final Fantasy

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Treatment (ちりょう, chiryou) is a command ability in Final Fantasy VIII. It works by casting an Esuna-spell effect to one party member, removing all status ailments. The main difference with the spell, however, is that this ability can be used even when the player character is Silenced. It also does not remove any magic from your stock. It's also a little stronger, as it can also cure Doom, while Esuna cannot.

Treatment is learned from the Guardian Force Siren for 100 AP. It could also be learned by any GF with the item Med Kit, provided there's a space for the GF to learn this ability. If you are out of room for it, the item Amnesia Greens can be used to forget an ability and free up a spot.
