Commander Tovak was a male Starfleet officer active in the 24th century.

By 2381, Tovak had ascended to the position of executive officer of the USS Aventine. However, during the Borg Invasion of 2381, the Aventine engaged a Borg cube at Acamar and Tovak and commanding officer Dexar were killed. Ezri Dax assumed command and successfully led the Aventine through the Battle of Acamar and was eventually assigned as the replacement commanding officer.

She later reflected back on the event, wondering if her position was just due to circumstances, but Sam Bowers insisted that it was because of her ability to lead that she was commanding the Aventine. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
