Notes

  • Toad can be used on both summons and players but with a reduced effect on the latter.
  • Toad is affected by the summon's - not the summoner's - stats. It works like a universal Feca armor.

Runescape

(Redirected to Swamp toad article)

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

It has been suggested that content from this article (or section) be split into Swamp toad (bait).
The Swamp toad is a small creature with removable legs. If you choose to remove them, toad's legs appear in your inventory in place of the swamp toad. The text "You pull the legs off the toad. Poor toad. At least they'll grow back." appears in the chat box. The Toad's legs can be used to make gnome cuisine. They are also used in agility potions (when mixed with toadflax) as a secondary ingredient.

The swamp toad itself (with legs) is the tertiary ingredient for making Barker toad pouches.

There is also a creature of the same name around the swamps in Feldip Hills. These are distinct from the swamp toad item. They cannot be picked up to obtain toad legs; instead they are filled with swamp gas using a ogre bellows to create a bloated toad, which is used as bait when trying to kill a chompy bird, and are also used in the quest Mourning's Ends Part I where they are injected with dye.

Locations

Swamp toads spawn in the Tree Gnome Stronghold swamp

Swamp toads spawn in the following locations:

There are also dropped by Tortoises, and obtained from pickpocketing Gnomes.

Collection

Swamp toads fetch a fair price on the Grand exchange due to their use in summoning (the barker toad pouch is the second best pouch to make from gold charms in terms of Summoning experience). A full inventory of toads is currently worth 7280 coins, and they respawn quickly. For this reason, gathering them in the Tree Gnome Stronghold has become a common way to make quick money, with no skill requirements. Players are advised to collect them on a well-populated world to reduce the respawn time (see Server), while avoiding worlds where other players are collecting if possible; there will then be enough spawns for the player to collect constantly. A Beast of burden is also recommended. It takes roughly a minute to bank and return, using either bank in the stronghold. A slightly faster banking method is to teleport to Mobilising Armies using a ring of duelling, and use the spirit tree to return to the stronghold.

"You loathsome two-eyed toad!"
―Ree-Yees

Toad were amphibious animals. Variants of toads were found in different worlds, including the arboreal Fevvenor toads of Veron,[1], the grub toads of forest moon of Endor,[2] the grate toads of Coruscant,[3] and the spiny-collared toads of Tatooine.[3], as well as the slow, bio-luminiscent Bo-toad of a certain jungle planet in the Outer Rim Territories[4] and the freckled toads owned by Jabba Desilijic Tiure.[5]

Zarians[6] and Frog-Dogs had been physically compared with toads.[7] Evir Derricote was said to have a toad-like demeanor.[8]

This creature is in the Amphibians class and has history.
Toad

135 Hit points
60 Experience points per kill

Summon/Convince: 400/400 (Illusionable)
Abilities: Melee (0-30) poisons you 1 hp/turn, Stalagmite (8-17), Haste.
Pushable: ?
Push Objects: ?
Est. Max. Damage: 48 hp per turn
Immune To: None.
Strong To: Ice (-20%), Earth (-20%)
Neutral To: Physical, Holy, Death, Energy, Drown, Life Drain?
Weak To: Fire (+10%)
Sounds: "Ribbit! Ribbit!"; "Ribbit!".
Behavior: They run when they have 10 or less health left. Due to their haste it is hard to outrun them at lower levels. If you're trying to kill it with non self healing summons (such as a Fire Devil), watch out because they can retarget very fast.
Field Notes: As a curious note, Toads give same rare loot (War Hammer) and also the same experience points as Wild Warriors.
Location: The Laguna Islands, Arena and Zoo Quarter.
Strategy: Try not to let them run away when they are low in hp, as they are fast and can lure you to even more Toads. Low level mages should avoid them since they are often found in groups and can spam small amount of damage quite fast while reducing your health significantly. Use GFB or other area effecting runes to quickly kill larger groups.
If you're on ground level of the Laguna Islands, mages can run around for about 20 seconds quickly, lure about 20 toads and some other creatures this way and then use GFB, 2 (or even one) shots can be enough for about 1k exp.
Loot: 0-12 gp, 0-2 Meat, Fish, Mace, Bag, Club, Poisonous Slime (semi-rare), War Hammer (very rare). (Loot Statistics)
