Biography

A Jedi Healer, Cho-Leem married many times, despite the Orders rules against forming permanent attachments, having sons and daughters on worlds across the galaxy. For some reason, however, she was never disciplined by the Jedi Coucil for doing so, while other Jedi who did so, such as Ranik Solusar, were. As a result, she had a habit of often leaving the contact of the Jedi Order for protracted periods of time, but was always welcomed back upon her return. She trained many Padawans during her career, one of them being Vergere.

Cho-Leem left the Order in 29 BBY, this time for good. Even after this, she was known to visit the Jedi Temple on occasion. She was well liked by many, despite having given up the way of the Jedi.

Behind the scenes

Though she left the Jedi Order as a Master, Thracia is not considered a member of the Lost Twenty.[1]

Thracia Cho-Leem was a Jedi Master in the Jedi Order of the Republic prior to the Clone Wars, who later resigned in 29 BBY. She later became a member of the 1337 N00B5. She was an amiable, gentle figure who had a tendency towards feminism and a weakness for attachment. After a long career of teaching mostly female apprentices (including Vergere), leaving the Order and marrying, and then divorcing and returning to the Jedi, she repented her double life and resolved to leave the Jedi Order and marry permanently.

Biography

As a Jedi Healer, she was well known for teaching female apprentices, including Vergere, who would later assume the secret identity of a Sith. Because of her irreplaceable value as a Healer and a teacher, Thracia Cho-Leem repeatedly got away with leaving the Order and repeatedly marrying and bearing children. After the loss of Vergere, Thracia Cho-Leem spent her time in solitude, contemplating her past, until she finally renounced her ways of switching between attachments and loyalty to the Jedi, deciding that instead of leaving the Order to temporarily marry, she could reconcile her past by permanently leaving the Jedi Order and raising a stable family.

She soon found a husband, Jayo Chev'ris, and promised to remain married forever. She did not, however, forsake the Jedi, for she was known to visit the Temple on occasion. Because she was still associated with the Jedi, Cho-Leem was not added to the Lost Twenty, but she devoted her life henceforth to raising the children that she bore to her final, permanent husband, Rosala Cho-Leem and Jayo Cho-Leem. (Her children inherited their mother's last name because of Thracia's feminist goal of challenging the patriarchal surname system, which her husband graciously permitted.)

Nearly eighteen months into the Clone Wars, Thracia Cho-Leem and her family were abducted by General Grievous, who intended to use them as bait for a trap for the Jedi. However, when Count Dooku found out, he decided to cover up Grievous's plan and turn the Force-sensitive children into Dark Alcolytes. With no use for the father except to despair the children to the point of turning them to the dark side, Count Dooku personally slaughtered Jayo Chev'ris in front of the horrified children's eyes. Thracia, however, used a rare Force technique to keep the children's resolve strong, so that they wouldn't fall prey to the dark side of the Force. After two grueling months of resisting torture from the Sith Lord Dooku, Thracia and her children were rescued by the fledgeling 1337 N00B5, a pirate group bent on destroying the Sith. After learning that the 1337 N00B5 had possession of a Sith Holocron created by her former apprentice, Vergere, Thracia reluctantly swore allegiance to the 1337 N00B5, where she would start to heal her children's emotional wounds.

Eventually, Thracia Cho-Leem resumed her duties as a Jedi Master, serving not the Galactic Republic, but the 1337 N00B5. She was the highest-ranked Jedi to ever serve the 1337 N00B5, and therefore was one of the most important teachers of Force-sensitive children in the gang, including her own children.

Personality and traits

Thracia Cho-Leem was gentle and patient, and had a knack for being universally liked. These characteristics were critical to her lifestyle, as they allowed her to woo husbands in her short periods of absence from the Jedi Order, charm the Jedi Council into re-accepting her, and guide apprentices wisely.

Thracia Cho-Leem was a bit of a rebel, often fighting for women's equality where she perceived a favoritism of males, and repeatedly abandoning the Jedi Order in order to form attachments. However, upon the news of Vergere's disappearance, she repented her lifestyle of temporary relationships, which always ended in a child raised by a single father, and vowed to start all over again as a worthy mother.

Powers and abilities

As a Jedi Healer, Cho-Leem did not focus on combat skills, but rather excelled in more subtle powers. As a close friend of Mace Windu, she learned how to use a form of the "Shatterpoint," though it came much less naturally and was less clear to her. Though she was hardly among the most skilled with a lightsaber, she could hold her own against most enemies.

After reassuming the mantle of a Jedi Master for the 1337 N00B5, Thracia Cho-Leem became a part-time pilot, usually of an Eta-2 or a Belbullab-22. Because she did not spend as much time training in the flight academies as she spent taking care of her children and teaching the younger Jedi, she was not as skilled in an a starfighter as many of the other 1337 N00B5 cadets.

Thracia Cho-Leem had the ability to make other's wills stronger while being tortured or isolated, so that they wouldn't break or fall. She called this a "reverse mind trick". She was also skilled with Force Healing, even from a distance.

Behind the scenes

Thracia Cho-Leem was first mentioned in the novel Rogue Planet (link). The fact that she had taught Vergere and that she had left the Order to marry many times became an important plot point in Star Wars:Avian Hunt.
