Thespis was a Bakuran city. Cion and Elitha were natives of this city, and many of the constructers of the Jedi Temple were also from the city. The city also produced several of the early Jedi of the Temple.

Thespis was the closest city to the Bakuran Enclave, which was built only a few kiometers from the city, thousands of years before. Over time however the city slowly "moved" as the older buildings were ignored and newer buildings were built further west, away from the Temple. However, from the highest point on the Temple, the citywass visible, and as such provided a calming influence for the Jedi who could counter the chaotic nature of the city with the calm influence of the city.
In 23 ABY Xander Vos, Lyn Korak, Vikro, and Kavar were sent to the city to solve what they thought was a hostage situation. Instead they were ambushed by mercenaries hired by an as yet unknown source. Kavar and Vikro made short work of them, but since then until unveiling the Order's location during the Darth Dude Conflict they were extremly nervous of the fact that someone, somewhere was closing in on their location, something they had strived to keep secret for thousands of years.
Shortly after the Darth Dude conflict the Sith of the Fourth Sith Empire invaded the planet in 86 ABY, rasing the entire continent with their orbital bombardment, onliterating the Temple and all settlements on the continent. This included Thespis.
