Theodore Roosevelt was a male Human who served as President of the United States of America in the early 20th century. During his term of office, he was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The origin of the name of the children's stuffed animal toy, "teddy bear" is attributed to his sparing the life of a motherless, American blackbear cub, while hunting in 1902.
Roosevelt's image was one of four (later five) carved into the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. (TOS movie: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)
Federation President Hiram Roth was an admirer of "Teddy" Roosevelt, and lived by the words of a Roosevelt quote: "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
Roosevelt was the namesake of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a late 20th century seagoing vessel. (TNG novel: Ghost Ship) He was also a likely namesake of subsequent Starfleet starships dubbed USS Roosevelt. (Though another likely namesake was U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.)
