The Viewer
Also known as:
Race: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Home Era: 21st century
Appearances: DW: Attack of the Graske
Actor: You

The Viewer was a Human living in the 21st century, who watched the Doctor's adventures closely. After the Doctor dropped Rose Tyler off in 1979, to see ABBA, he picked up the Viewer in the TARDIS and took them with him to stop the evil Graske. The Viewer helped locate a Changeling, locate a Graske, pilot the TARDIS and get through doors on Griffoth, but their ultimate decision was when a Slitheen escaped and they had to choose whether to freeze the station, killing everything inside or teleporting the kidnapped people back to their homes and destroy the Changelings. The Doctor thanked the Viewer and dropped them back off at their home. (DW: Attack of the Graske)

Behind the scenes

  • Attack of the Graske was an interactive set-top game made available for a time to UK viewers. It has been released on the BBC's Doctor Who website for and can be accesed outside the UK. Due to the interactive nature of the production, its canonicity is a matter of debate (as is, therefore, the canonicity of "The Viewer" as a character). However, the events of this story are subtly referenced in SJA: Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?.
  • A similar occasion in which "the viewer" was engaged in a Doctor Who story was Music of the Spheres, which is also of uncertain canonicity (and also, as it happened, featured the Graske).
