Band Biography

Mope rockers extraordinaire, The Smiths came out of nowhere, via Manchester. Having completed this, they then proceeded to take the U.K. by storm. From the moment that the band, with iconoclastic lead singer Morrissey, appeared on "Top Of The Pops" waving flowers about, the weird kids figured that they had finally found their messiah. During their career, they produced two classic albums (The Smiths and The Queen Is Dead, and two others that are bound to be considered classics at some point in human history (Meat Is Murder and Strangeways Here We Come). And they seemed to break up at just about the perfect time, when doubt was starting to form as to whether they could pull off another "Queen...". However, to this day, the weird kid population has yet to find another group that they can truly call their own.
