The One That Got Away is a comic short story that appears in Star Wars Tales 8. It was written and drawn by Andi Watson. The story takes place around 4 ABY.
The story is narrated retrospectively by a young Twi'lek woman named Nima'tar also known as Mina. Mina was a university student who became the lead singer of a touring band, hoping to earn money for her tuition. Things went fine until one evening the band performed for Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Jabba refused to pay them so to afford passage off of the planet, the rest of the band sold Mina to Jabba. As Jabba's slave girl, Mina was forced to dance, clean him, and do other undignified acts to avoid being thrown to the rancor. Only Mina's thesis, which she was writing while in captivity, kept her going.
One night, after being replaced by a new dancer, Mina managed to escape, only to encounter one of Jabba's guards. To her surprise and gratitude, the guard helped her escape. The guard was believed to be Lando Calrissian in his disguise. The story ends some time later, when Mina was back at the university presenting her thesis: "Hygiene & Power: A Xenopological Study of a Hutt."
