The Great Leviathan is the Orichalcos god exclusive to the "Waking the Dragons" story arc.
It was buried 10,000 years ago when Atlantis sank after it was defeated by the three Legendary Dragons. Like the Orichalcos, the Leviathan is pure evil and seeks to destroy the human race. It is by far the largest monster seen in the anime, even making the Egyptian God monsters look tiny. Dartz, the king of that city, was brainwashed by the Orichalcos and told to resurrect The Great Leviathan using human souls. In order to resurrect the Leviathan, Dartz would need the souls of the three Duelists that hold the Legendary Dragons cards, Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and Joey Wheeler.
Ultimately, Dartz gave up his own soul to resurrect the Great Leviathan, and though it overwhelmed the Legendary Knights and an army of monster spirits, Yami managed to draw in the light in the souls the Leviathan absorbed and used that light to release the three Egyptian God Monsters. In a battle in the skies over the ocean, Yami and his three Egyptian Gods faced off agianst the great beast. While the Leviathan was seemingly more powerful than even the three God Monsters, Obelisk, Slifer, and Ra were able to destroy the creature, for the light that fueled their power was greater than the darkness that coursed through the Great Leviathan.
Later, Yami was able to release the Orichalcos's dark influence from Dartz. Atlantis then returned to the bottom of the sea.
