Disney Channel is a cable network owned by the Walt Disney Company. Its first broadcast was on April 18, 1983, as a 16-hour-a-day pay cable channel. It soon changed to a 24-hour-a-day channel, and in 1997 became a basic cable channel.

Various Henson productions have aired on the channel. The Muppets have appeared in Disney Channel bumpers, first in 1997, when the channel began airing episodes of Muppets Tonight, and again in 2005, after the Disney Company bought the Muppet characters. Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Pepe the King Prawn also appeared on an episode of Mike's Super Short Show, with another appearance soon to be broacast as Studio DC: Almost Live!.

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Nancy Kanter was once a Sesame Workshop employee, executive producing various videos.

Their preschool lineup is called Playhouse Disney.
