Published in 1966, The Dalek Outer Space Book by Terry Nation and Brad Ashton, like the Dalek Annuals that preceded it, was one of the first Doctor Who-related books to feature original stories. As with the first book, a selection of short stories and comics featuring the Daleks were offered, as well as stories featuring Mark Seven and the SSS, characters created for a never-produced Daleks spin-off series. A "Chris Welkin - Planeteer" story written by Russ Winterbotham was reprinted.

Original story art was done by Richard Jennings, Leslie Waller, and John Woods but none of the stories are individually credited. Except where artwork is signed, who did what is a matter of speculation. Art Sansom created the art for the Chris Welkin strip.
