Mike is a DHARMA Initiative technician who along with Casey and others welcomed Roger Linus and Ben Linus to the Island. ("The Man Behind the Curtain") The insignia he wears appears to indicate that he was attached to the Pearl. This role is a nonspeaking background role, and his name is known only from his wardrobe. It is presumed that he was killed in the Purge.

A technician is a crewman trained in a specific processs, often of a technical nature. When a technician is referred to, he or she is often called technician 1st, 2nd or 3rd class so as to account for his or her rank. A petty officer 2nd class, for example, who is a transporter technician, would be, traditionally, referred to as technician second class.

A Sullustan mechanic.

Technicians, also called technos, technicos, or mechanics, were people who were skilled in making, fixing and understanding technology. Almost every urban area had some technicians employed at factories, shops and space stations and only the most primitive civilizations went without one.

Podracer mechanics were largely unsung geniuses that could exploit the powerful machines to their fullest capacities.[1]

The Ugnaught, Rorand Zuzz was a technician who specialized in medical technology.[2]

Imperial Lieutenant Endicott served as a docking bay technician aboard the second Death Star.[3]
