Rear Admiral Wilson Ung was commander of Task Force 73 in the early 2360s. (Ung, Wilson. "Comment: The Akira Class." Dockyard Review 4:2 (January 2365).

In 2377-78, Commodore Anya Romonov was Task Force 73's commanding officer aboard the flagship USS Arthur C. Clarke (an Akira-class heavy cruiser commanded by Captain Cheryl Lowe). Task Force 73 was then homeported at Deep Space 5. (Ships of the Star Fleet, Vol. 4: Star Fleet Operating Forces. )
