Final Fantasy

Up to date as of February 01, 2010

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Swords are recurring weapons in the series, appearing in every game to date. The initial weapon of a Warrior in the original Final Fantasy, it has since become the staple starting weapon for the protagonists in the series, with the notable exception of Zidane Tribal. It is also a common weapon among jobs, though the Knight is usually the only one that can equip every one of them, but in any case, the Paladin, the Dark Knight, and the Blue and Red Mages are some of the jobs that can also equip swords. There are also many recurring swords throughout the series, the most famous being the legendary Excalibur, the Ragnarok, the elemental blades Flametongue, Icebrand and Coral Sword, the Lightbringer and Deathbringer, and the Ultima Weapon.

In some appearances, they are stronger and heavier than Daggers, but weaker and lighter than Greatswords.
