The survivors, or castaways, of Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on the Island on September 22, 2004. Out of 324 people on board, ("One of Us") there were 72 initial survivors (71 humans and 1 dog) spread across 3 sections (1 front, 49 middle and 22 tail). Most of these survivors have either spoken, or have been seen or referenced in the episodes of the show. Additionally, after about 40 days on the Island, Aaron Littleton was born. The plane was also carrying the casket with the body of Christian Shephard. When Jack found the casket along with other luggage in the jungle, he discovered that the casket was empty and there was no body of his deceased father to be found, arising some questions about Christian and his status. ("White Rabbit")
This article lists every character known to have survived the crash.
For list of only the Middle Section survivors, Tail Section survivors and Victims of the Crash, see List of Middle Section survivors, List of Tail Section survivors, and List of Oceanic Flight 815 crash victims, respectively.

Over 50 extras have rotated to portray the background (non-speaking) survivors of Flight 815. Some survivors have been given nicknames by fans, some of which have also been associated with specific names from the dialog in the script of episodes. This is merely an artifact from vagaries of the irregular hiring of such non-salaried extras: The number of individuals in the pool of every extra who has ever appeared on the beach dating back to Season 1 exceeds the "official" number of survivors. Therefore it is likely that in future episodes, some extras will suddenly appear, while others temporarily or permanently disappear. Extras that have been incidentally given or associated with a name in script dialog appear in the main table, above. See the main article for a full list of extras, and any given or fan names.

The Survivors were the remnants of the species that lived through the Reaver War. Led by Micale Kenobi Solo, they were fleeing the Reavers in the Yuuzhan Vong's home Galaxy in order to find a new life.
The Survivors are the disgruntled remains of the Wreckers and Mayhem Attack Squad following the Time Wars (plus Skids). All feeling abandoned and ignored by their comrades, Carnivac proposed they form their own breakaway faction and do their own thing.
They had several undocumented adventures saving humans before a second Mayhems incarnation caught up with the Decepticon deserts; Catilla was killed and Carnivac went rogue to get revenge. Following this, the Survivors were absorbed into Earthforce (or possibly not, due to tricky Earthforce continuity issues).
The team's line-up was:
Springer appears to have been in charge as far as the Autobots were concerned, but Carnivac did not recognise his authority.
