A supernova was the detonation of a main sequence star, creating a massive explosion that released mass amounts of energy.
Omega used his remote stellar manipulator (the Hand of Omega) to send the star Qqaba supernova thus providing power for the Time Lords time travel experiments. (PDA: The Infinity Doctors)
The Seventh Doctor also utilised the Hand of Omega, pre-programming it and allowing the Imperial Daleks to obtain it. The Doctor had programmed the Hand of Omega to fly into Skaro's sun, sending it supernova and vaporising Skaro. (DW: Remembrance of the Daleks)
The Doomsday Weapon was also capable of causing supernovas. (DW: Colony in Space)
The Spidrons hid their home solar system behind the illusion of a supernova. (TVC: Nova)
According to Sarah Jane Smith, the Doctor took her see supernovas.
Due to the massive power of a supernova, The Doctor was able to use its power to contact Rose in a Parallel Universe that was thought to have been permanently sealed. (DW: Doomsday)
A supernova is a type of nova, a large explosion of a star that sometimes occurs when a star reaches the end of its life cycle, and collapses under its own gravity. Supernovae, in particular, occur when the large masses of supergiant stars reach critical levels. (CCG: Premiere)
During a supernova, an explosion that ejects large amounts of gas and solid matter with a considerable amount of energy occurs, sometimes leaving a remnant of a neutron star or black hole within a nebula of ejected stellar mass. Supernovae were also known to generate cosmic storms. (TOS comic: "UK comic strips, first story arc")

Supernova, sometimes referred to as Nova, is a recurring enemy ability. It generally deals a large amount of non-elemental magic damage to all enemies. The same spell is also used by several enemies as a powerful move intended to finish off the party.

Super Nova is not an Enemy Skill that can be learned by the party, but is a very powerful attack known only by Safer∙Sephiroth. Its animation is the longest in the entire game, showing the destruction of the entire Solar System by use of a meteor summoned with the use of the knowledge gained from the Lifestream. It inflicts massive damage and status effects but cannot actually KO an enemy. Oddly enough, the attack can be used more than once by Safer∙Sephiroth, calling into question the authenticity of the animation showing the solar system being destroyed, as this accompanies every casting of the spell.
Nova can be learned by Kimahri as a Ronso Rage Overdrive. It can be learned by drawing it from the Omega Weapon in the Omega Ruins or Nemesis in Monster Arena. Rikku can also Mix a Supernova by combining a Dark Matter with any other item. Nemesis can also use a version of the spell called Armageddon.
Supernova is a Blue Bullet that can be learned while wearing the Gun Mage Dressphere. The spell is learned from Ultima Weapon. In addition Paragon uses Big Bang, which has the same animation sequence as Supernova.
Super Nova appears as Sephiroth's EX Burst in this game. Its animation is similar to its Final Fantasy VII incarnation, although the animation is much shorter.

The first two equations calculate the Sun's and planet's potential attractive forces, the third equation calculates the Earth's potential attractive forces and the fourth misstates that the asteroid is working on a two dimensional level, all to direct the energy used to cause the supernova.[1]
A Supernova (plural: supernovae or supernovas) is a stellar explosion. They are extremely luminous and cause a burst of radiation that may briefly outshine an entire galaxy before fading from view over several weeks or months. During this short interval, a supernova can radiate as much energy as the Sun could emit over its life span. The explosion expels much or all of a star's material at a velocity of up to a tenth the speed of light, driving a shock wave into the surrounding interstellar medium. This shock wave sweeps up an expanding shell of gas and dust called a supernova remnant.[1]
On average, supernovae occur about once every 50 years in a galaxy the size of the Milky Way and play a significant role in enriching the interstellar medium with heavy elements. Furthermore, the expanding shock waves from supernova explosions can trigger the formation of new stars.
Before their extinction at the hands of the Flood, and the Halo Array, the Forerunner fleet had "the capacity to force premature stellar collapse," creating an artificial supernova, used to destroy entire star systems taken by the Flood.[2]
Another supernova occurs in 648 B.C.E. causing the destruction of the San 'Shyuum homeworld.
In the Battle of the Apex in 2531, The UNSC moved the UNSC Spirit of Fire's Slipspace Drive into The Apex site of the unnamed Shield World and detonated it close to the internal miniature star. The chain reaction sent the star into supernova state, obliterating the installation and the fleet of Forerunner Ships, preventing the Covenant from using it and saving humanity from total defeat and extinction.[3]
A supernova occurred when a giant star ceased to fuse light elements into heavier elemental products. The loss of internal heating allowed the star to collapse onto itself to form a neutron star or a black hole. Supernova could happen naturally or by means of a superweapon-induced self-destruction.
Many systems had been destroyed or rendered uninhabitable after their suns exploded. A supernova had also killed life in neighboring systems, and thus interstellar evacuations had been necessary many times in galactic history. In a placid spiral galaxy the size of the Milky Way or as large as the extent of the Galactic Empire, approximately three supernovae occurred every century. Nonetheless gas and dust within the plane of the galactic disk could limit a supernova's visibility to a few thousand light years.
If a star was massive enough to perish in a supernova explosion, it produced, in its final stages of nuclear fusion, large amounts of heavy elements in its core. The supernova then scattered these elements into the surrounding nebulae.

The Supernova was a capital ship design of immense proportions, carrying a superlaser capable of devastating most capital ships, and hidden by an Electron shield that was powerful enough to resist the mightiest of conventional turbolasers. The Supernova was so large, an inner magnetic levitation train system was used to travel onboard. Being twenty kilometers long, the Supernova carried a vast crew, and an extensive army of battle droids and soldiers supporting the Second Confederacy of Independent Systems was held in the cabin of the unbelievably large ship. The design was proposed by Darth Monarchist during the gathering height of the Second Clone War, and construction on the mammoth starship halted much other development of CIS II-controlled worlds to build the dream superweapon quickly. Three vehicles under the name Supernova were built, the ships named Supernova-A, Supernova-B, and Supernova-C respectively.
Unlike many superweapons, like the Death Star and the Planetary Energy Harvester, the Supernovas actually were not a waste of time and money for the builders to be destroyed before deployed, and the Supernova was a true peak of warfare technology, serving the Separatists well until the destruction of all three vessels at the end of the Battle of Thule.

The Supernova was not a wedge-shaped or hexagonal vehicle that was common of the New Jedi Order era, but rather a rectangular design. The main body of the craft, where most life support, recycling, storage and deployment areas were located, supported the synchrotron generator, the main drive engines, and various other crucial functions. At the rear of the capital ship was a towering stern, ending with a commmand deck, half the size of a Star Destroyer.
The Superlaser of the Supernova was powered by two black, rectangular barrels that were wide with a proportionally small depth. The two multi-kilometer-long barrels stored energy to power the superlaser. Small openings, lining horizontally on the inner sides of the two barrels, launched amplification beams, of which the exact function is unknown, which multiply the strength of the main shot fired from underneath the Supernova. The last of the laser couplings acts like a rotating lens, which redirects the beam with precision, so it could target capital ships without moving the entire body of the craft too much.
The power of the superlaser is known to make a solid mass of half a kilometer combust, meaning most variants of Star Destroyers and other large battleships could not sustain such a heavy blow from the Supernova. However, the recharge rate of the superlaser was painstakingly slow, considering the size of the power barrels. The superlaser could only recharge in five minutes, but the power can be divided to deliver multiple still-deadly blows to enemy ships.
The electron shield was described as "invincible" by the Sith Lords that first proposed the construction of such a vehicle, and it essentially was. Proton torpedoes could not even scratch the hull, and even the deadliest of conventional explosives and destructive rays could not affect the humongous craft. The electron shield was unstable, however, and the ship was only stabilized by a synchrotron generator that accelerated Novilium-428 particles to near-lightspeed, which somehow kept the Supernova from being deformed. If the synchrotron generator were destroyed, emergency shutoff would deactivate the electron shield immediately or the Supernova would detonate at a scale similar to its namesake.
The electron shield also protected the Supernova from large ships from coming into close proximity to it, as the electron shield generated a giga-petavolt field that would rip apart ferromagnetic material if it were not equipped with ray shields. Starfighters were able to penetrate this defense, as their shields needed to cover less surface area, whereas capital ships relied more on hull plate thickness, which would only make the field deadlier. If a starfighter's shield generator were destroyed in proximity to the Supernova, it would be ripped apart by the electric field penetrating the very molecules of the ship.
The secondary, and almost as effective, anti-capital ship defense was a series of huge missile launchers that used Novillium-428. The projectiles launched from the tubes were about the size of a K-Wing Bomber, and could easily penetrate the shields of most capital ships. The stabilization process used in the synchrotrons in the shield generator is reversed to produce a massive convulsion. This technique wastes little energy, and one missile can disable a Rebel Transport rather easily, considering additional ships don't overlap their shields.
The command deck of the Supernova is nearly the size of an Imperial Star Destroyer, and housed several thousand officers, elite engineers, and leading commanders. The admiral and his personal crew, usually accompanied by a Sith ambassador such as Darth Monarchist or Darth Artoo, would reside in the uppermost point of the massive transparisteel structure, where the entire city-sized starship would be visible. The Supernova had to be commanded by the most potent of admirals, with a mind far surpassing any droid intelligence unit. Therefore, the admiral of the Supernova fleet was immensely honored with the task, and burden, of commanding the gigantic vessel.
The command deck was the most luxurious area on the entire ship, as the only officers there were beyond their fighting years and into the age of commanding. The command deck, though mostly made of transparisteel, was constructed out of reinforced nanotube filaments that intertwined hexagonally along the entire frame. Hence, even if the synchrotron generator failed, the command deck was sturdy enough to resist bomboardment for the most part.
The engines of the Supernova were very unique. Using Novilium-428 acceleration, much of the energy of the fuel could be easily brought to near-lightspeed in vast quantities, providing propulsion. The method allowed for a massive ship such as the Supernova to rely on two main sublight engines, rather than dozens of ion engines (Ion engines could not be enlarged to such a scale without leaking excess gasses). The accelerated particles provided the needed propulsion for a massive spacecraft to escape a planet's gravity, but the ship traveled slowly at sublight speeds, allowing simple starfighters to catch up with the vessel in minutes. (An illustration of this is in the Battle of Malastare, where a strike force was sent after the fleeing capital ship for an assignment elsewhere.) However, the Supernova was built on sheer firepower and defensive capability, and was seldom threatened in any way in battles.
