  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.

Why she was not sent back in time like the other Oceanic 6'ers?

  • Sun was the only member of the Oceanic 6 not sent back in time because the necessary 'conditions' described by Eloise were not met, due to her not being with Jin at the time.
  • I don't see how Sun not being with Jin could be considered as a 'condition'. More plausible is that she was not with her daughter, Ji Yeon, who was conceived on the island though born off it. I suspect Ji Yeon is going to carry a lot of importance in season 6.
  • Sun was the only member of the Oceanic 6 not sent back in time because she's the only one not visited by John Locke aka Jeremy Bentham.
  • Sun was the only member of the Oceanic 6 not sent back in time because she was not yet born in 1977 and it would be reasonable to assume a "condition" of time travel would be that you cannot "move" outside of your lifetime.
    • Locke talked about his birth as a point two years in the future at one point. Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Jin, and Faraday traveled to a time when the statue was still standing.
    • But the others who time travel have clearly gone to ancient times and to the future, proving that it is possible to travel outside your lifetime.
      • Yes, but we can clearly see that the FDW was tipped off its axel at that point. If the island was somehow "broken," it would explain why these members were exempt from this rule. Also, there may be a difference between entering the island from the "real" world and already being on the island. This would explain why 1977 was the furthest back they could go, as that was when Hurley and Kate (the youngest two in the Oceanic 6) were born.
  • Sun wasn't sent back in time because she "betrayed" the Island by working for Charles Widmore just like Ben wasn't sent back in time because he moved the Island when Locke was suppose to and then even worse he came back
  • Sun was not sent back because Locke had promised Jin that he would not bring her back. When she came back against the will of Jin, Locke, and the Island, the Island prevented her from going back to 1977.
  • When 316 crossed paths with the Island, the Losties appeared to be sent back to where they should have been. They should never have left the Island in the first place, where Jack, Sayid, Kate and Hurley were all supposed to travel through time with Sawyer and co. Sun, however, was meant to give birth on the Island, and subsequently die. She therefore didnt travel back to 1977 because on the Island's course-corrected path Sun should be dead. All going well according to the Island, she will die at the moment she reunites with Jin
  • Sun didn't travel back in time because she was the only member of the Oceanic 6 that was supposed to leave the island. If she stayed she would have died from pregnancy.
  • Sun didn't travel back in time because she was originally not supposed to be on Oceanic 815, and thus not supposed to be on the island in the first place. If you remember, she was originally going to leave Jin at the airport, but it was through her free will that she stayed with him. The island made sure she got pregnant so as to force her off the island so she would not travel back to 1977. She was supposed to leave, but Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid were not.

What are her motivations for returning to the Island?

  • As well as wishing to rejoin her husband, Sun is also still on a mission from Charles Widmore, which she devised with him in 5x01 "Because You Left". The aim of this mission is to enable Widmore to regain control of the Island.

How did she know Ben caused the freighter to explode?

Ben certainly did not tell her, and Locke was the only other person who knew why the freighter exploded, but he did not visit Sun.
