Stratford-upon-Avon was a large town located in the Midlands area of England, United Kingdom on Earth. The town lay on the River Avon, and became a popular tourist attraction owing to its status as being the birthplace of renowned playwright, William Shakespeare.

Due to the notoriety of its famous son, Stratford was home to five theaters by the 24th century which were ran by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Over the centuries, these theaters had brought huge numbers of visitors and huge revenue for the town. Throughout her career, Jessica Maxwell (who was also born in the town), performed many plays in the town's theaters, including Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. Notable tourist attractions in and around the town included Shakespeare's birthplace, Anne Hathaway's cottage (located in the village of Shottery), and Mary Arden's House. Famously, the National Trust misidentified Arden's House for many years, and it wasn't until an archaeological dig in the 1960s that it was revealed that Hathaway's house was located across the street from the identified house.
