Stoneblade, also known as Gorgon Blade or Break Blade, is a recurring weapon in the series. It usually deals with the Petrify status or being Earth-elemental, and is usually a mid to high-rank weapon.




Final Fantasy III

Break Blade is a high-rank weapon that can be used by heavy melee classes such as Warrior or Knight. It has an Attack power of 125 and inflicts Gradual Petrify upon hit. It can only be found in the Ancients' Maze.

Final Fantasy IV

The Gorgon Blade, originally called Medusa Sword, is a high-rank weapon that can only be gotten by winning it from several enemies, all of which drop it very rarely. It has an Attack power of 77 and Accuracy of 16, and inflicts Petrify upon hitting with it.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years

The Stoneblade is the same as it was in Final Fantasy IV. It can still be only obtained from a monster drop. Its stats are the same.

Final Fantasy VI

Stoneblade, originally called Break Blade, is a mid to high-rank weapon that can be used by Terra, Locke, Edgar, and Celes. It has an Attack power of 117 and randomly casts Break in addition to attacking, and can be found at a hidden area in the Magitek Research Facility. Additional Stoneblades must be stolen from Outsiders.

Final Fantasy X

The Gravestone is a weapon for Tidus that has Stonestrike as its dominant ability, while the Gorgon's Gaze and Stillblade are weapons for Auron that has Stonetouch and Stonestrike as their dominant abilities, respectively.

Final Fantasy XII

Stoneblade is the second strongest one-handed sword in the game, being surpassed by Durandal. It has an Attack power of 95, costs 17,800 gil to buy, and requires 80 LP to use. Also, unlike all other one-handed swords in the game which grant a +5 evasion to the character that equips it, the Stoneblade grants no evasion bonus.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Stoneblade is the fourth strongest weapon for Vaan. It has an Attack power of 90, Magic of 45, Speed of 60, and is Earth-elemental.
