A player wearing the bugged "red-plumed" steel full helm

The steel full helm is the third weakest full helm in RuneScape. The steel full helm grants greater Defensive bonuses than its medium helmet counterpart, though at a cost of Offensive bonuses for Range and Magic. To wear this helmet the player needs at least 5 Defence. To obtain a steel full helm the player can either buy one from the Helmet Shop in the Barbarian Village, obtain one as a monster drop, make one using the Smithing skill or trade with another player.

To create a steel full helmet the player needs at least 37 Smithing, a hammer and two steel bars. To make a helmet use one of the bars on an anvil with the hammer in the inventory. This will grant the player 75 Smithing experience.

For steel full helmets members with and 16+ construction can use a steel full helmet on a pluming stand to make a steel heraldic helm, a steel full helm designed in the colours of the player's family crest obtained from talking to Sir Renitee.

  • On 1 July 2008, when Jagex released the Update:RuneScape HD - Members-Only Beta Launch, all full helmets except the Black full helmet had a red trim applied to the plume on the low detailed version, similar to a Zamorak full helm. This bug was later fixed by Jagex.
