A starship catapult is a device used to accelerate starting starships to provide an assisted take off. Many Federation spaceports located on planetary surfaces use starship catapults. Many shuttlebays of Federation starships are equipped with similar catapults to launch shuttles and attack fighters. (Dragon Ball Z vs. Star Trek: The Way of Infinity)
