Starbase 48 was a Federation space station in use during the 24th century. (Star Trek: Swiftfire)

Following her graduation from Starfleet Academy in 2363, Nikki Whitechapel was assigned to Starbase 48. She served at the starbase for around a year before been transferred to the USS Enterprise-D.
