Squirmy and Slimey

Squirmy is a cousin to Slimey, Oscar the Grouch's pet worm. She appears in the 1983 book The City Worm and the Country Worm.

She has a sweet temperament and lives in an apple. When the book was adapted to video form in 1985 in Three Sesame Street Stories, Fran Brill voiced the character, using a voice identical to the present-day Prairie Dawn with a slight Southern accent.

"Hi, I'm Squirmy."
—Squirmy, giving a woman a heart attack

Squirmy was an unknown, mischievous being with apparently supernatural powers. He resembled a living, humanoid plastic doll, although that may not have been his natural form. Squirmy often pretended to be a mere toy. While doing so, he was accidentally placed in a eunuch initiation machine by Alkeri's mother. The machine split Squirmy's head in half. Squirmy then turned his head to the woman and said, "Hi, I'm Squirmy." Terrified, the woman had a heart attack and died. Squirmy later made fun of Alabri, who slew him.

Behind the scenes

Squirmy was somewhat inspired by the infamous Chucky, as well as by a baby doll owned by the GM's mother when she was a child.
