From Halopedia, the Halo Wiki

Spartan is the term used to describe members of several supersoldier programs instituted by the UNSC at various times, named after the Ancient Greek warriors of Sparta. More specifically, were you looking for:

  • ...the SPARTAN Program, where all the other Projects are listed and analyzed?
  • ...the ORION Project or SPARTAN-I Program, the precursor to future attempts by the UNSC?
  • ...the SPARTAN-II Program, the most widely known of the Spartan programs?
  • ...the SPARTAN-III Program, a highly classified special forces program to create "disposable heroes"?
