Smallville was a bi-monthly comic book series published from May of 2003 until January of 2005. The title was based on the Smallville television series, and did not take place in regular continuity. The series focused on the early years of Clark Kent and his budding relationships with several familiar names including Lana Lang, Pete Ross and Lex Luthor. Like the television series, several new characters were added to Clark's backstory including Lex's father, Lionel Luthor, and his high school friend, Chloe Sullivan.
