The Skoll is an enemy found in the Calm Lands, in Final Fantasy X. It is quite common but should pose little threat to the party. Unless under-leveled, one hit from Tidus will defeat it. Its attack can cause Sleep or Silence ailments but these effects will only last three turns.

Skolls will drop armor with Sleep and/or Silence Ward and weapons with any of the elemental strikes. In the International versions of the game, it will also drop weapons with the Distil Power ability.

Etymology

In Norse mythology, Sköll is a wolf that chases the horses Árvakr and Alsviðr, that drag the chariot which contains the sun through the sky every day, trying to eat her. Also, he and Hati are the sons of Fenrir.

Skoll was a Male Jawa born on Tatooine in 10 BBY. When Skoll was a child he was owned by Shota the Hutt.

History

Early life

Before Skoll set off to defeat the Death Watch he was a slave for Shota the Hutt, a wealthy Hutt who lived in an unpopulated area in Tatooine. On the anniversary of his capture he was working on a ship for a Falleen. As he was working, a small engine part shot out and peirced his right eye. When he finally had a chance, he created a cybernetic eye to replace his damaged one. It was red and robotic and had thermal and night-vision capabilities.

For several more years Skoll worked on ships for Shota, but he found that his skills with working on the ships had deteriorated from the time when he had both of his eyes. Shota found this out when the Swoop Bike he had Skoll work on had an engine malfunction and exploded. This caused Shota to throw Skoll in a trash heap and leave him for dead.

Death Watch Revival

After he was saved by Echon Tarkin, and a couple other fellows he decided that they could use his skills and he would come in handy. After several battles Skoll was able to hone his battle skills. He decided to leave his new friends and start a rebellion against his former owner Shota.

Jawa war

Skoll returned to his home on Tatooine to see that Shota had continued his cruelty toward the Jawas he enslaved. Skoll was angered by this and he quickly banded his fellow Jawas and began the war that the Jawas knew they couldn't win.
