"Shiim is any kind of wound that is made with the edge of a lightsaber blade."
Cin Drallig
Asajj Ventress uses shiim on Anakin Skywalker's face.

In lightsaber combat, shiim was a more minute wound to an opponent by the edge of a lightsaber's blade. It was considered inferior and a sign of desperation or struggle against a potent enemy. However, in use by a lightsaber master, this was regarded as either a taunt by a superior enemy or an immobilizing technique to stop a foe.

Notable uses

While dueling with Darth Bane on Tython, Jedi Knight Johun Othone scored a successful shiim strike against the Dark Lord by slashing through a gap in his orbalisk armor at his exposed wrist, cutting him deeply.[1]

Obi-Wan Kenobi being brought down by Dooku's application of the shiim.

Count Dooku performed two successful shiim strikes against Obi-Wan Kenobi while dueling on Geonosis, gracefully slashing both his left arm and leg.[2]

Dooku also used shiim against Tholme, gouging out the Jedi Master's eye, and again against Yoda during their rematch on Vjun, though it failed to bring him down.[3][4]

Anakin Skywalker survived a shiim wound inflicted by Asajj Ventress on Coruscant, though it left him with a distinct facial scar over his right eye.[5]

Galen Marek was heavily scarred from the numerous shiim applications he inadvertently received from Darth Vader's missed attacks during their sparring matches.[6]

Darth Vader applied shiim on Tao under the orders of Palpatine.

Darth Vader later endured a shiim mark on his shoulder, inflicted by his own son during their duel on Bespin.[7]

The Jedi Knight Jacen Solo used this on Jedi Knight Nelani Dinn when he cut her on the inner thigh making her unable to stand, as he explained his motives before executing her on his path to becoming Darth Caedus.[8]

Jedi Master Mara Jade Skywalker applied two shiim marks during her brawl with Jacen Solo, cutting him deeply with her vibroblade on the cheek and chin.[9]

Sith Lord Darth Kruhl used shiim against Rikkar-du, brutally slashing him across the chest before killing him.[10]
