Shield left half - Detailed

The Shield left half is a very rare item dropped by many monsters. It can be combined with the Shield right half to form a Dragon square shield (requires level 60 Smithing). Joining the right half with the left half earns 75 Smithing experience. It can be considered a rule that, if the monster can drop gems, it can also drop shield left halves. The other half is sold in a shop in the Legends' Guild for 750 000 coins.

Trivia

  • Previously the right and left halves appeared to be two parts of a kite shield. Jagex later fixed this.
  • The Left half of the Dragon square shield was once a very sought after, yet very rare drop that players could obtain from various monsters. Although it is still a very rare drop, through a combination of the increased amounts of Dragon square shields in the game and the ability to get them as a drop in PvP/Bounty Worlds, this half of the Dragon square shield has now dropped to the point where the Grand Exchange/Trade value is similar to the High Alchemy Value (66,000 coins).

Left half Right half

  • The shield halves are called Right and Left half, even though the two parts appears as the upper and the lower parts of the shield.
  • Players should note that it is cheaper to buy the full shield from the Grand Exchange than to buy the right half from the legends guild for 750k after getting the left half drop.
