Sector 002, also known as the Alpha Centauri sector, is a Beta Quadrant sector of space that is located in the heart of the United Federation of Planets, according to Federation measurement standards and terminology in stellar cartography.

As the sector's common name indicates, this sector contains the trinary stars of the Alpha Centauri system. The sector was bordered towards the galaxy's upper reaches by the Ophiucus sector. Towards the galaxy's rimward regions, sector 002 is bordered by the Vulcan sector. Moving clockwise around the galactic center, this sector is bordered by the Tellar sector. History

Sector 2 was one of 3600 sectors into which the Guardians of the Universe had divided the universe. Each sector was assigned one, and later two, members of the Green Lantern Corps, who were responsible for its safety and wellbeing. The same system was later used by the other Lantern corps of the emotional spectrum, including the Sinestro Corps.
