The Scimitar was a prototype Scimitar class Warbird in operation for a short period of the late 24th century until its destruction in 2379.
The Scimitar was the culmination of a Romulan development program to create a powerful new class to utilize against the Dominion (TOS novel: Captain's Blood). The design included a revolutionary Thalaron radiation core, developed by the Tal Shiar, making it a deadly adversary. Shinzon of Remus discovered this thalaron device in an operation during the Dominion War and used it to gain power and build the Scimitar in a secret base on Remus (Tales of the Dominion War short story: Twilight's Wrath). The vessel was taken on a test run. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
The Scimitar was the only ship of the class to be completed as the necessity for such a super-weapon disappeared following the end of the Dominion War. Shinzon used the Scimitar to destroy the remaining unfinished Scimitar class vessels to make sure no one could oppose him (TOS novel: Captain's Blood).
With the road clear of other Scimitar class opposition and the backing of the Imperial Fleet, Shinzon used the Thalaron technology to wipe out the Imperial Senate and make himself Praetor. Then with an overture of peace he lured the USS Enterprise into Romulan space with the hope of capturing Jean-Luc Picard (which was necessary to cure Shinzon of a life threatening illness). The plot failed and Picard escaped with the knowledge of the Scimitars' existence and Shinzon’s plans to attack Earth. The Enterprise fled Romulan space to meet with a battle group in preparation for a strike against the Scimitar, but Shinzon was close behind and engaged the Enterprise in the Bassen Rift where communications disruptions would prevent the Federation starship calling for aid.
Aid still came however in the form of a pair of Mogai class Warbirds. Whilst they were quickly neutralized by the Scimitar, their presence and subsequent destruction gave the Enterprise some time. However despite all their efforts, the Enterprise was hugely outgunned and on the verge of being crippled. In the hope of stopping the Scimitar, Picard resorted to ramming the vessel; the tactic delivered a powerful blow and took out the Scimitar's disruptors. In an act of desperation Shinzon ordered the Thalaron weapon be fired on the Enterprise thereby killing everyone on board.
Not willing to let his crew be killed, Captain Picard beamed to the Scimitar in the hope of stopping Shinzon. Equally unwilling to let his Captain be sacrificed Lieutenant Commander Data traversed the vacuum of space in a rescue attempt. On the Scimitar Picard reached the bridge quickly neutralizing the Reman crew but was forced into hand-to-hand combat with Shinzon, finally killing him. Data arrived on the bridge to find his Captain somewhat dazed and quickly beamed Picard back to the Enterprise before sacrificing himself to destroy the Scimitar and save his crewmates. (TNG Movie/Novelization: Nemesis)
The design on the ship was reused in later Reman warships. (ST comic: "Countdown, Number One")

The Scimitar (シミター Shimitā) is a weapon that appears in various games in the Final Fantasy series.
Contents |
In the original Final Fantasy, the Scimtar can only be purchased in Pravoka and be used by most of the fighting characters in the game. In the Dawn of Souls version, as with most items, the Scimitar is cheaper than in the original release.
In Final Fantasy VI, the Scimitar is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It was renamed Zantetsuken for the Advance release. It has 208 Attack power and has a random chance of inflicting Instant Death, even against undead foes. When combined with Relics that allow for multiple attacks, the Scimitar is a weapon of mass destruction against most random encounters.
The Scimitar can be won from the Blue Dragon or from the Collesium by betting the Lightbringer. The sword can be used by Terra, Cyan, Edgar, and Celes.
Final Fantasy VII's rendition of the Scimitar appears not as a sword, but as one of Cid's lance-typed weapons. The weapon can only be found in a chest at the Submarine Docks at the Underwater Reactor. It is a very useful weapon in the game as it offers Triple materia growth, which only this and Cloud's Apocalypse sword can have.
Scimitars are a type of sword, primarily used by Blue Mages. Several types, referred as Kilij, are designed specifically for Blue Mages by increasing their MP, stats, or granting a bonus over certain types of creatures.
Scimitar is a low-ranked edged sword that provides more agility, a less risk factor, and a higher strength. Its range is the standard of the regular swords.
The word scimitar does not refer to a single weapon but rather a set of swords that are all referred to as scimitars. Most of these weapons originated in the Middle East and all share some common characteristics.
The blade is curved and sharp primarily for slashing attacks rather than stabbing. The blades all tend to be thicker near the hilt of the weapon thus allowing more speed during a slash and control although the blade itself is not particularly heavy.
The first historical references to a weapon similar to a scimitar occur in 1800 BC as the Khopesh "sickle-sword" appeared to be a weapon used to fight against the Egyptians. The Khopesh was used heavily during the time period in Egypt known as the new kingdom.
In Medieval times, scimitars (in the form of Saifs and Kilij) were heavily used in warfare in the Turkish and Arabian lands.

Scimitar is from the Middle Eastern country of Halwan, the age old enemy of Murtakesh, the home of the Black Tiger. Scimitar fought Iron Fist (Daniel Rand) a number of times.
He was hired by the Weaponeers to assist in their attack on Zanzibar. The Weaponeers ended up double-crossing Viper and Sat-yr-nin. In retaliation, Viper shot Scimitar in the back, killing him.

Scimitars are great slashing weapons, although they have a less effective stabbing attack. On average, per hit they deal slightly more damage than shortswords but less than longswords. Scimitars are a much favoured training weapon against unarmoured opponents, as what it lacks in absolute power, it makes up for in speed. The balance favours a player's Strength being higher than their Attack. This quality, when combined with the great popularity of training Attack and Strength alone and neglecting Defence, results in its popularity. They have the exact same speed as the considerably weaker daggers and two-handed claws, so they are widely used. However, they have less attack and defence bonuses than longswords and battleaxes, and they lack versatility due to possessing only an effective slash attack.
Scimitars are made with the Smithing skill, purchased at a scimitar shop identified with the scimitar icon on the map, or bought from another player. One scimitar shop is Zeke's Superior Scimitars, located in Al Kharid. Unfortunately, it only sells bronze, iron, steel, and mithril scimitars. There is also a members-only scimitar shop located in the Ape Atoll that is only available after completing the Monkey Madness quest. This scimitar shop sells adamant, rune, and Dragon scimitars.

While Longswords offer higher strength and attack bonuses, they are a full bar slower than Scimitars. There is a 3 second delay between blows with a Longsword, whereas with a scimitar, the delay is only 2.4 seconds. This equates to 20 attacks per minute with a Longsword as compared to 25 attacks per minute with a Scimitar. The extra 5 hits per minute usually outweigh any damage or accuracy boost a longsword will give.
One test carried out by m1k3 south compared the experience gained per minute by each weapon. Having 84 strength, and wearing Rune armour, an amulet of glory, Rune gauntlets (charged) and a Rune Berserker shield (charged), and fighting Deadly Red Spiders, he obtained the following results:
Rune Scimitar: Average: 670.2Exp min-1 (713.6, 638.4, 676.8, 652).
Rune Longsword: Average: 549.2Exp min-1 (515.2, 559.2, 603.2, 519.2)
These results suggest that the Rune Scimitar proves to deliver more experience than the Rune Longsword. However, two possible flaws in this testing is that while the Rune Scimitar was tested on lvl 50 Deadly Red Spiders, where the Scimitar's accuracy sufficed, some may argue that the accuracy of a Rune Longsword may inflict more damage on more defensive creatures or even on players, while the Rune Scimitar may only inflict rapid 0's. More exhausting testing is required to produce definitive results, however these results may prove helpful due to the lack of current testing on these weapons.

The Scimitar (or Sith Infiltrator) was a prototype stealth-ship used as the personal starship of Darth Maul, the Sith apprentice of Darth Sidious, prior to the Invasion of Naboo around 32 BBY.
Contents |
The Scimitar had a pair of folding wings around a round cockpit; a design which was used on T-class long-range personal cruisers like the Valcyn which were used by Sith Lords like Darth Bane during the New Sith Wars about a millennium earlier and would later resurface in the famous TIE series of starfighters used primarily by the Galactic Empire.
In front of the round cockpit (the whole forward-center section of the spacecraft) of the vehicle was a rare stygium crystal-powered cloaking device which was capable of creating an invisibility field which could sneak through even the most advanced of security technologies and allowing its master to evade pursuit while on his missions.
Built beneath the cloak field generator was a series of compartments containing various equipments for Darth Maul's missions including three DRK-1 Dark Eye probe droids, his speeder bike Bloodfin, several interrogation and security droids, spying equipment, torture devices, bombs and mines.
The Infiltrator was protected by six low-profile solar ionization cannons which could extend and fire several bursts in the blink of an eye. It was also equipped with an experimental high temperature X-C 2 ion drive array which would resurface in future Sienar designs while the ship's hyperdrive was an unmodified Sienar SSDS 11-A system. It could also carry six passengers while its total capacity was 2.5 metric tons.
The Scimitar was an extensively modified version of a Sienar Design Systems prototype for an advanced Star Courier and was allegedly designed by Raith Sienar himself (though he would later dispute his involvement) for a mysterious client, later revealed to be Darth Sidious.
Having survived a dangerous training session with deadly combat droids, Darth Maul was sent on a mission by Lord Sidious to kill the leading Vigos of the powerful Black Sun crime syndicate which dominated a significant amount of crime in the galaxy. For this mission, Maul was equipped with a Sith Infiltrator which he would christen Scimitar. The Sith apprentice then left his master's base in the galactic capital of Coruscant itself cloaked by its powerful stygium powered-cloaking device and passed over the Jedi Temple itself which only caused a slight disturbance in the Force for Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi.
After disposing of the Black Sun vigos including Master Alexi Garyn on Ralltiir, Darth Maul was assigned by his master to track down the missing Queen Amidala of Naboo, along with her entourage and her pair of Jedi guardians Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. After breaking through the Trade Federation blockade on Naboo, Amidala and her guardians made their way to the remote desert planet of Tatooine. It was to this locale that Darth Maul finally tracked Master Qui-Gon, who only narrowly escaped.
However, Darth Maul would later meet his foes again during the battle for Naboo. During the fight, the Sith Lord was slain by Obi-Wan Kenobi, though he managed to defeat Qui-Gon Jinn before that. Following that, the Scimitar passed into the hands of the Republic.
The first technicians to inspect the craft were killed by automated defenses, so Jedi Master Saesee Tiin had to help secure the craft. While he found a large amount of equipment, including torture devices and other less-sinister pieces of technology, the onboard computers had been erased. The ship was going to be transferred over to Kuat Drive Yards for study, but disappeared somewhere en route (at least officially). In reality, as of 19 BBY, the Republic was storing it in a clandestine hangar in Theed. At some point, however, the Scimitar was recovered by Palpatine, who kept it during his reign as emperor of the Galactic Empire.[3] At some point during the Clone Wars, it was apparently in the possession of Darth Tyranus.[4] This same craft or another like it was also used by the Nightsister Yansu Grjak.[5] During the conflict, the Dark Jedi Garth Ezzar possessed a similar craft, suggesting that Republic Sienar Systems continued with the design, although his ship lacked the cloaking ability of the Scimitar.[6] After the rise of the Empire, Scimitar was given to Inquisitor Valin Draco as his personal transport.
It is probable that the Scimitar was designed using concepts later used to create the T.I.E. starfighter, judging from its similarity in appearance to the later TIE Fighters of the Galactic Civil War. It was also an influence in the creation of the Rogue Shadow, which was also produced by a Sienar company.[7]
In the book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, there is a ship that looks very much like the Scimitar in the section on Mos Eisley. On the deckplan of the Scimitar from Starships of the Galaxy (Saga Edition), the Scimitar's cockpit and airlock are shown to be on different levels, while in the book Episode I Adventures 3: The Fury of Darth Maul, Maul is said to have seen a Bartokk reflected in the cockpit viewscreen, while seated in the pilots chair, and opened the airlock directly behind himself to vent the assassin.
In Star Wars Starfighter the Scimitar can be unlocked by beating all missions with gold or by entering the code "overseer", in the game it has lasers that are exceedingly powerful and rechargeable missiles that are even more deadly.
