From Grand Theft Wiki

The Scientists are a gang in Grand Theft Auto 2 that are opposed to the Rednecks due to their high intellect. They offer missions to the player that involve high levels of sophistication, and doing missions for them can lower the player's faction with the Rednecks, because they rather destroy things than use stuff for research.

The scientists are infamous due to the fact that, to get into their Base, you must drive across a series of jumps, timing and aiming correctly, which you can only do with, in turn, one of the Scientists' cars, as it is the only car fast enough. The jumps go from a Dirt Path at the top of the map, onto a metal archway, to some rooftops, then onto some broken train tracks, and then off a slope in the tracks, into the Lab. Your car will likely get caught in the entrance and blow up, and so you must jump down into the Base. But occasionally the car will go over the edge, but you can't get the car out, so the best option is to just destroy it anyway. It is quite worth it, due to the fact that there are pickups all over, trains come through (although they do not stop, but destroying them is fun), and there's even more jumps to go across on foot.

The Scientists are usually seen driving Meteors.

"A scientist must question—or be worth nothing"
Vul Isen

Scientists were beings who followed the profession of studying, and in some cases, manipulating the nature of the galaxy. They studied biology, chemistry, physics, or derivatives of these fields. Many scientists also displayed a great interest in Midi-chlorians. Some scientists, such as Jenna Zan Arbor, made a living by introducing a virus into a world, then months later, when the civilization was devastated by it, released the cure for a huge sum of credits.

Scientists' field of enterprise varied greatly, with some going into the design of interstellar ships, aiding the creation of ships such as the TIE/D Defender or the Star Destroyer, or building Superweapons. Many also stuck to the typical natural scientific studies. Often, scientists had the title of doctor, like Farnsworth. Scientists mostly worked alone, but sometimes they worked as a community at universities such as the University of Coruscant or the University of Sanbra.
