A scientist is a person that uses the scientific method. Many scientists appear in the Fallout series including James, Madison Li, and Dr. Zimmer.
There is a wrecked highway south of Raven Rock with a truck on it. If the player approaches the truck, an explosion goes off inside the truck and the body of a scientist flies out the back, off the bridge. He is carrying a Big Book of Science. There is a chance that a piece of his corpse may stay on the bridge, allowing easier looting without running into the mirelurks under the highway.
Another scientist can be found outside Vault 87. This female scientist was probably killed by the huge amount of radiation which lingers outside the Vault entrance.
With the Broken Steel add-on, several scientist (called Project Purity Scientist) are added to Project Purity's control chamber. In dialogue, they constantly complain about Scribe Bigsley and his scribes, claiming that they only make things more difficult.
The Scientists are a gang in Grand Theft Auto 2 that are opposed to the Rednecks due to their high intellect. They offer missions to the player that involve high levels of sophistication, and doing missions for them can lower the player's faction with the Rednecks, because they rather destroy things than use stuff for research.
The scientists are infamous due to the fact that, to get into their Base, you must drive across a series of jumps, timing and aiming correctly, which you can only do with, in turn, one of the Scientists' cars, as it is the only car fast enough. The jumps go from a Dirt Path at the top of the map, onto a metal archway, to some rooftops, then onto some broken train tracks, and then off a slope in the tracks, into the Lab. Your car will likely get caught in the entrance and blow up, and so you must jump down into the Base. But occasionally the car will go over the edge, but you can't get the car out, so the best option is to just destroy it anyway. It is quite worth it, due to the fact that there are pickups all over, trains come through (although they do not stop, but destroying them is fun), and there's even more jumps to go across on foot.
The Scientists are usually seen driving Meteors.
These characters are scientists, probably possessing a PhD in one of the sciences.

Scientists were beings who followed the profession of studying, and in some cases, manipulating the nature of the galaxy. They studied biology, chemistry, physics, or derivatives of these fields. Many scientists also displayed a great interest in Midi-chlorians. Some scientists, such as Jenna Zan Arbor, made a living by introducing a virus into a world, then months later, when the civilization was devastated by it, released the cure for a huge sum of credits.
Scientists' field of enterprise varied greatly, with some going into the design of interstellar ships, aiding the creation of ships such as the TIE/D Defender or the Star Destroyer, or building Superweapons. Many also stuck to the typical natural scientific studies. Often, scientists had the title of doctor, like Farnsworth. Scientists mostly worked alone, but sometimes they worked as a community at universities such as the University of Coruscant or the University of Sanbra.

The mad scientist theme is a popular one amongst Star Wars writers, displayed by Jenna Zan Arbor, Drell Kahmf, Galak Fyyar, Cornelius Evazan, Bevel Lemelisk or Nuvo Vindi.

Level 50 Scientist, in groups of three (will not attack you) unless you attack them
Scientist is a City of Heroes contact located in the Freedom Base neighborhood of Bloody Bay at coordinates (1196.5, 91, -2255.5). He gives the Shiva Strike Mission mission to heroes.
Briefing
I'm glad you're here, we have a major problem.
A few weeks ago, six meteors smashed into Bloody Bay. Since Arachnos abandoned the island, we decided to move in and protect the civilians who were left behind. Trouble is, the asteroids seem to give off some sort of weird radiation that creates weird creatures that have proven too much for our forces.
We really need samples from the asteroids to stop this threat. Can you help us?
Great! Here's an Ore Extractor. Use that on all six of the meteors, then process the raw ore into a sample at one of the firebases scattered around the island. You'll have to defeat the turrets and reprogram the firebase before you can process the ore. That will give you a sample we can safely transport back to our labs.
Temporary Power:
The Scientist will give you an Ore Extractor.
| Ore Extractor Extract Ore This stainless steel tool allows you to safely collect and store fragments of the Shiva meteors. Once collected, you'll need to take the shards to a processing station and transform them into Shiva samples. These are then taken to the contact who gave you the extractor. You must be in close proximity to the meteorite to extract the ore. Extracting the ore is interruptible, so if you are hit, you will need to try again. |

Shiva Strike! |
| Shiva was a massive asteroid that was headed directly toward Earth. A NASA scientist named it 'Shiva' after the Hindu 'Destroyer of Worlds.' The meteor broke up over 20 years ago--some say thanks to a top-secret multinational project that cost five heroes their lives--but its remains struck the earth just a few weeks ago.
Bloody Bay bore the brunt of the 'Shiva Strike,' and Arachnos callously abandoned it. This gave Freedom Corps an excuse to move in. The Shiva meteor fragments are demonstrating remarkable properties, including spawning alien horrors and causing the dead to rise, and both Arachnos and Freedom Corps want samples. To get those samples, you need to visit your base and get an Ore Extractor from the scientist there. You can use the Ore Extractor on the six meteors--numbered one through six in Hindi. When you have ore from all six asteroids, take them to a Firebase and knock out its automated defenses. You can then process your six shards into a 'sample'. Take the sample to your base and your scientist will reward you with a special power available only here in Bloody Bay. Be warned! While fighting for the Shiva Strike, you'll find the other side may try to stop you--heroes and villains can battle each other, in addition to the Shivans and other foes. Should you defeat a foe you or a teammate will take any ore or sample he's collected! |
Mission Objective(s)
Mission Objective(s)
Temporary Power:
Upon mission completion, you will receive a Shivan Shard temporary power.
| Shivan Shard Summon Shivan Decimator Using this weird 'Shiva Shard' while near the ground allows you to summon forth a powerful Shivan Decimator to fight at your side. The Shivan can be buffed and healed, but is an unwilling companion and will not follow you through doors or into new zones. The shard can summon 5 Shivans before it is drained. |
Badge
Upon mission completion, you will receive the Gunner Badge.
| Gunner You have been part of taking over a Firebase, earning you a new nickname: 'Gunner.' |
Debriefing
Great work. I hate to ask, but we could always use more samples if you think you can take another trip back into the front lines.
