Scarecrow was a character in the movie The Wizard of Oz (and the books of L. Frank Baum).

A psychiatrist serving on USS Enterprise conjured a version of Scarecrow as a companion during a visit to the Amusement Park planet. The doctor had intended to stay on the planet and send a duplicate to the Enterprise in her place, but when she learned Scarecrow would be disassembled to create her duplicate, she decided there was no place like home. (TOS short story: "The Girl Who Controlled Gene Kelly's Feet")

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

File:scarecrow.png A Scarecrow can be made by members with level 23 Farming. The scarecrow is placed in the flower patch as protection for sweetcorn planted in the nearby allotments. The scarecrow is used to complete one of the medium tasks in the Falador Achievement Diary.

It is constructed by using a sack on a hay bale or a haystack to make a hay sack. A Bronze spear is then used on the hay sack, and finally the spear with a watermelon.

With the scarecrow in the inventory, it is used on the flower patch to place it. Note that weeds will grow up around the scarecrow, which does not affect the scarecrow's ability to protect sweetcorn from disease. To remove, a spade is used on the flower patch, which returns the scarecrow to the inventory. You are able to rake away the weeds without removing the scarecrow itself.

Trivia

  • The individual components of a scarecrow are tradeable, but the fully assembled scarecrow is not.
  • Placing a scarecrow to protect your sweetcorn as it grows in the patch north of Port Sarim is a medium level task in the Falador Diary.
  • If you check the protection price of a scarecrow in the Farming guide, it will say "Unsurprisingly, scarecrows don't need protection."
  • After the 2009 RuneTek 5 update the image for the scarecrow was changed due to a bug,
