History

Sayd was one of the reborn members of the Guardians of the Universe, and one of the few female members of the organization. Sayd's sensibilities were more in line with those of Ganthet, himself, a Guardian known for his untraditional mindset. Sayd read a forbidden chapter from the Book of Oa, which foretold a prophecy of cosmic revelations, "The Blackest Night". When the threat of the Sinestro Corps loomed over the galaxy, Sayd addressed the incident to her colleagues as a sign from "The Blackest Night". Her Guardian brethren dismissed her concerns, treating the prophecy as nothing more than fable.

Aware that Ganthet and Sayd were in love with each other, the others banished them from the Council of Guardians for committing the ultimate crime—that of feeling. Heading to Earth, the two Guardians acquired the Power Batteries of the Green Lanterns of Earth, then dissected the weakened Parallax and trapped him in the batteries. They then explained their banishment, and when John Stewart gave knowledge of the Blackest Night, Ganthet explained of the upcoming War of Light and the seven new Lantern Corps. After departing Earth, Ganthet and Sayd headed for Odym, an idyllic planet where they decided to form their own Blue Lantern Corps, with Rings and Power Batteries fueled by the emotion of Hope.
