Saul or Saul Church was an 'intelligence' within St. Christopher's Church in the town of Cheldon Bonniface, England.

Profile

The church was his body. He had been at the site for centuries, the Celts thought of him as a local spirit, the Saxons thought him a god. Christian missionaries attempted to exorcise him from the site, but they failed and instead built a church on the site, then declared him an angel. The Doctor and Reverend Dominic Trelaw were the only people present when Saul baptised himself with his own font. The cleaning ladies heard him humming hymns and dubbed him the ghost of Saul Bredon. (NA: Timewyrm: Revelation)

Saul could bathe the church with low level psionic waves to create a calming effect on whoever was inside the church. He could also selectively blur photos to remove aliens. (NA: Happy Endings)

St. Christopher's Church still existed in the 23rd century. Bill and Stacy Townsend hoped to get married there. (RT: Dreadnought)

History

Saul was an immortal mutant who ruled for centuries in Northern China. Some of his power was derived from the Celestial's Ship, which crashed near his kingdom. However, hundreds of years ago, the Ship was stolen by Apocalypse. Saul apparently had twelve mortal children, and constructed giant booby-trapped tombs for each of them. He later joined up with other Externals, and together they used their knowledge and power to play global power games. Although Saul was immortal, he was apparently not indestructible, because his life was entirely drained by Selene.
