Sarn
Type: Planet
Appearances: DW: Planet of Fire

Sarn was a volcanic planet which at one point was a colony of Trion. The Trions mainly used Sarn for its regenerating Numismaton Flame, but over time the Trions neglected Sarn and began using it as a dumping ground for political prisoners.

The people of Sarn descended from what was a relatively high-technology society into tribalism and superstition. They worshiped Logar God of the Fire Mountain, and sacrificed unbelievers in fire.

When Turlough and the Doctor went to Sarn, Turlough sent a distress call to Trion, requesting assistance for the people of Sarn, who were threatened by a volcanic eruption. (DW: Planet of Fire)

Sarn was a Federation colony world. In late 2365 or early 2366, the USS Grissom was ordered to Sarn to assist in repairing damage to the colony's fusion reactor. The mission team consisted of first officer Christine Parsons, chief of security Cray, science officer Chu'lak, and assistant chief engineer Katerina Mueller. Unfortunately, the core exploded during the course of the mission. While Parsons and Chu'lak both agreed that there was no way the team could have prevented this accident, Cray placed the blame on Mueller. This incident led to a great deal of enmity between the two officers throughout the rest of their service together. (NF short story: "Performance Appraisal")

"In twelve hours, a fleet will stand ready at Imaar Alpha where they will be posed to lay waste to the Rebels."
―Admiral Sarn to Darth Vader

Sarn was an admiral in the Imperial Navy in command of the Super Star Destroyer Terror after the Battle of Yavin.

Contents

Biography

The Terror was requisitioned by Grand Admiral Martio Batch to oversee the Phantom TIE project which Sarn hoped would help him to win Emperor Palpatine's favor. During an inspection by Darth Vader, two Rebel agents, Rookie One and Ru Murleen, infiltrated the Terror and destroyed it along with the Phantom TIE production facility. Lord Vader escaped the Terror but executed Sarn for incompetence before leaving.

Behind the scenes

In the game Star Wars: Rebel Assault II, Sarn was played by Gary Martinez.

Despite a (retroactively) subsequent relation between the TIE Phantom and Vorknkx Project and their similar sounding names, Sarn is not to be confused with Zaarin, who is a completely different character.
